Manoj Roy is a BWPI Research Fellow, working on climate change and urban poverty in Bangladesh. He has degrees in Architecture (B Arch, BUET, Bangladesh, 1995), Infrastructure Planning (MIP, Universität Stuttgart, Germany, 2001), Urban Planning (PhD, University of Manchester, UK, 2005) and Higher Education Teaching (PGCHET, Queen's University, UK, 2008). He also held a post-doctoral fellowship funded by the Irish Environment Protection Agency's Environmental Research and Technological Innovation Programme. He has expertise in spatial analysis, GIS and Planning Support Systems (PSS), poverty mapping, and process and strategic planning. |
| Current research areas | Manoj's current research focuses on understanding how vulnerable urban communities in Bangladesh respond to climate change impacts and investigate how to enhance their resilience to such threats through design, planning and community organisation. He has also interests in planning for sustainable urbanisation in fast growing cities of the developing world, with emphasis on how climate change and viabilities influence the process of urban development and other life style choices, and how these processes can be modelled to inform strategic decision-making. |
